Finally!!!! Ben has acknowledged that yes, Emme is here, that she is staying and that perhaps she might be somewhat fun to play with (as long as she stays away from his tommy trains). Just the other day, while in the car, I turned in response to Emme’s giggling to catch Ben making funny faces to amuse her. My heart melted. It also made me think about the tremendous impact a sibling can have on the first born. I struggled with guilt after the birth of Emme believing that Ben somehow had been asked untimely to relinquish his spotlight. There are times my heart breaks when his needs are placed second to a slightly more demanding little sister. But then, there are the times like when he prays for Emme on his own, when he lets her claw at him without hitting back, and when I see him hand over a precious toy saying, “Emme’s turn”. It is these times when my heart is full of gratitude for the way he has changed, for the wonderful boy he is because he learned to share, his toys, his parents and the spotlight.

Those are some profound and deep thoughts that I, too, have entertained in my mind. Our children just seem to adjust no matter our limitations (due to dual demands!). You are such a great mommy! I love you Kelti!!

This is a really sweet post. I wish I could watch Ben and Emme interact. It's so amazing and heart warming to watch siblings look out for and learn to love each other. You have beautiful children--and I agree, you are a great mom.
